There is a relief that comes from hearing a naturally talented vocalist such as Alexis Joyce.

At age six, she took to the stage for her first musical, Gypsy. By age eight she had been recruited as an alto for her local adult choir in a Texas Church of God in Christ church.

She recorded her first song in Columbia, South Carolina, where she also earned her diploma at Richland Northeast High School's Palmetto Center for the Arts. Shortly after, she moved to New York City, and later, Charm City. It was in Baltimore where she met her lead producer, Morece, at an internship doing theatre with inner city youths.

An impromptu performance with Baltimore wordsmiths, David Ross and Femi Lawal of 5th L cleared a way to work with artists in the Baltimore music scene and beyond.

A month later, she was performing with the group in New York. A year later she was asked to come on as the vocalist for live performances with the Out of Water eXperience, Lawal's solo adventure that fuses alternative rock and hip hop.

Using this unique opportunity, Alexis has honed her talents on stage and at local venues.

She is now on the verge of releasing her first solo album.

An Army Brat, Alexis-Joyce is truly a lover of music- in all it's many forms. Her musical influences range from Donny Hathaway, Natalie Cole, and Stevie Wonder, to Aerosmith, Santana, The Eagles, and country artist such as Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, Kieth Urban, and Miranda Lambert. She spent months dancing to a Shania Twain cassette tape- given to her by an aunt as a girl.

"There's no such thing as 'Black music' or 'White music," says Alexis Joyce. "I strive to create music- and that can cross racial and cultural barriers. Music isn't stifled or limited by anyone's genre restrictions."
